I’ve been a long term customer and like someone has said above I’d like to leave a balanced review that’s not influenced by losses or short term issues.The site itself and the overall product, especially the exchange which is unique and the best betting product available, would get 5 star’s no problem. You’re getting the best odds around betting on the exchange and due to you not actually winning off a bookmaker you’ll never get issues with account closures or restrictions.The downside of Betfair and the reason I only give them 3 stars is the customer service is absolutely appalling. I would say that this problem isn’t unique to them, virtually all the bookmakers I deal with are poor at best when it comes to looking after and dealing with their customer’s issues, but Betfair are head and shoulders the worst of the established bookmakers.Live chat is painfully slow and unless your issue is the most basic to solve, no one on the chat has much idea of the actual gambling and site product. These positions should be a semi skilled job with anybody holding them having a pretty good grasp of the industry. Unfortunately they’re not and most of the operatives you’ll deal with (if you manage to get past the Bot) are lacking in even the most basic knowledge of gambling and it’s rules.Brilliant site, shocking customer service!EDIT: I’ve read through loads more reviews on here since I posted mine and would advise people to take 90% of them with a massive pinch of salt. They’re nearly all from obvious bad losing/compulsive/casino junkies and are far from accurate. There is nothing dodgy or scamming about Betfair whatsoever, they are an extremely reliable bookmaker and your money is more than safe with them is everything about you is legit. Most complaints are about losing/offers on the sportsbook or casino. These aren’t the reason anyone should join Betfair, it’s their exchange that makes them stand out. Casino junkies can choose from 1000,s of sites…… and they’ll lose on every one of them.

I have used Betfair for over 20 years. Overall the service is good and the odds offered on the exchange are better than any bookmaker for Horseracing, Football and most other sports. The only downsides are: 1. handling downtime which does NOT occur that frequently and 2. Dealing with customer contacts (as stated in other reviews it is initially not one on one and you are interfacingf with a bot, or it seems that way) and new accounts problems with account access, withdrawals, etc.Once you are an established user deposits, withdrawals and placing bets are simple transactions to carry out. They are not perfect, but they are not scammers, crooks or anything else described in some reviews. Bear in mind that people receiving a good service are not likely to review whilst those encountering problems are very likely to write a bad review. I hope you will feel this is a balanced review and helps you to decide whether or not to use Betfair

I placed a 5 team accumulator and 4 teams won and I was waiting for a late kick off so I decided to cash out but 1 result, showing a 2-1 win wasn’t registering as a win, so wouldn’t allow my cash out. Tried customer service but no joy. This isn’t the first time. I would highly recommend Not using Betfair they are absolutely useless. I’m down nearly £1000 due to their issues and won’t ever use them again. STAY CLEAR

My account was deactivated for some unknown reason last year (25+ year account) but after eventually managing to get through all the bots and AI, it was reactivated with little to no pain. Overall a good experience

I joined up with these clowns today, had my 50 free spins and won just over £9, I opted for a Tesco voucher…because of this I got £2 extra so I was able to opt for a £10 Tesco voucher which said I would receive in 2mins with £1.30 still left as credit on my account…I never got that token at all!…instead I got an email saying that my account had been closed which is inline with terms and conditions (as an excuse)….it looks to me like they didn’t want me to win this money so they cancelled my account instead, no other reason…I’d literally just joined up!Then I saw many other identical reviews everywhere about betfair!If I had won nothing, my account would be fine!Absolute scammers…avoid at all cost!

For anybody that is going to place a football acca at Betfair make sure you do it via oddschecker as the odds are much much bigger than on the Betfair app. I’ve just filled a acca out on Betfair app and it was 18/1 but on oddschecker it’s 26/1 big difference if you going to bet big

Deposited 600 gbp left 269 gbp to either play or withdraw the following day . Signed in said I had to speak to safer gambling team spoken to them they requested id again picture of myself with the id utility bill bank statement showing the deposits picture of bank card deposited from . This was 3 maybe 4 weeks ago now and I still havent got my money . I’ve spent hours on online chat being referred to numerous agents to now be told a team will be in touch soon . Soon has not got a time scale. I just want to retrieve alittle bit of my cash back and this is a problem I will never bet with these ever again nightmare company that seem to think they can just keep your money even if you’ve not lost it

Had a game abandoned in my acca and in my view it was deemed as a loss, and my acca adge was lost, and my stake.I enquired by the very quick on line chat and although they were acting within the terms of the acca edge rules, they sympathised with me and refunded my original stake as a good will gesture.

While watching a boring rugby match I thought I’d spice it up by trying an on-line gamble. How wrong I was. I signed up to BetFair, and they rapidly credited my account with funds from my credit card.Then the problems started.When trying to place a bet, I was informed my account was suspended. Why, who knows. Never mind I thought, I’ll just withdraw my stake, which I’d just deposited.Not allowed! They now want me to jump through loads of hoops just to return my original deposit. They didn’t like the fact I have an old style paper driving licence, despite them still be perfectly valid. I had to send them a link to the DVLA site confirming this. Then they didn’t like the fact that my house has a name AND a number. Sometimes the name is used sometimes the number.Customer service is appalling.Eventually they magnanimously agreed to un-suspend my account, but to withdraw my initial deposit I’d have to wait a week.Avoid using this scammy service.

I do not recommend it!!! I won 980 pounds and my account was closed and the winnings were not paid! I made deposits earlier and withdrew smaller winnings and there was no problem.

Purely scammedI hadn’t placed a bet for over 5 hours when I was looking at my Betfair account It’s strange that I had to voided bets I hadn’t placed totaling 600 which I questioned the staff and when they didn’t get back to me next day I called to find out how this happened and that all my discrepancies in the past should be looked at bet by betInstead I was told they’ve made a business descision they will close my account and said they won’t discuss anything any further as I no longer have an account Surely a wealthy company Ike this one would try to sort the issue out instead of closing my account If there are people with similar things we should get together for a huge CLASS ACTION

Free games are not legit.. The pinball game particularly.. The ball multiple times floated in the air for 2 seconds waiting for it to land on nothing..Almost useless for boxing and MMA betting, they stop betting on fights sometimes 30 mins before it starts..

I spoke with a lovely lady who was really helpful unlike the previous chat agent who was obsessed with my email address when it should have been my password. He said he could change my email address from his end when he meant my password. His lack of courtesy and professionalism was appalling and he abruptly ended the chat which was disgusting. I pray literally he’ll realise his huge blunder and learn from it though I question that? But I’ll still recommend betfair because I don’t want one person out of many to spoil the broth as it were so yes please try betfair. God bless. I’ve been using the Betfair Exchange for about a year and find it very easy and straightforward. I’ve not had to contact customer services for help very much but when I have (today for example) they have been extremely quick and helpful. Bets seems to get settled quickly and it’s pretty user friendly. I do also use the Sportsbook but not as much as the exchange but find that good too.

Betfair consistently display incorrect scores to try and make you place a bet. When you complain they were displaying the wrong score when you placed the bet they claim they had never displayed the wrong score.

Trustpilot is amazing! I keep visiting numerous companies sites. Betfair, there are more and more negative reviews being posted before trustpilot can delete them. About time they accepted that many Companies like Betfair have problems that are not going to go away. Check other social media sites like Facebook, the postings are the same type. Lets see how long before this posting is deleted too!

Betfair is a laughable name for these daylight robbers! More like bet fraud! Be very careful when cashing out as will change from £25 to -86p as soon as you hit the cash out button even though nothing has changed in the bet! Their excuse for this when I complained was “an act of God” I called him the end of a bell for that pathetic excuse and immediately closed my account down! Also they lie about money back if you lose as have never got my money back a few times after losing bets with this offer! I will never use bet fraud again and would not recommend it to anyone! Be very careful!

It is so unfair. They give you a wrong information on website, you place a bet using that information and they change it after. Tried to explain the issue with the contact center.. useless..There are many other companies you can use that treat customer with more respect.

I place an accumulator of 4 games live, £460 and could have won £2800, however I cashed out at £1975, 24 hours later my funds were manually adjusted back to £460 and my account has been restricted. That’s it!I have the proof.They only like losers!

Betfair live games especially monopoly is so bad. Take take take. I have been a customer for years but it is almost embarrassing I’m literally on my last bet with this company. What an absolute joke. I’m not addicted to gambling but I can see why people chase their money. Odd to win is extremely poor. Shame on you. Thank god I can bet with in reason!
